Wallcovering Installation Instructions
Preparation
Creating Plumb Line
Start from a corner, preferably by a door or window and measure on the wall the width of the paper minus 1/2 inch. Draw a straight vertical line, your plumb line. This will ensure your wallpaper hangs straight. Continue marking lines where every strip will end around the room and keep track of number strips needed.
Cutting Strips
Unroll part way and hold the roll against the wall and position against the ceiling. Leave an overlap of about an inch at the top and bottom. Mark the end of the sheet with a pencil on the back of the roll. Cut strip with a straight edge. Keep pattern repeat in mind when cutting and hanging strips.
Adhesive
Use a premixed vinal adhesive (We recommend Roman Adhesive PRO-880 or similar). DO NOT MIX WITH WATER.Use a short nap roller and evenly apply adhesive to wallpaper working from the middle out to the edges. Do not over apply. Book* your sheet of wallpaper by folding the sheet in half, adhesive side in, keeping edges aligned. Do not crease. Loosely roll like a newspaper starting with the fold. Let sit for 3-5 minutes before hanging. * Booking activates the adhesive and allows paper to relax and return to its original width. Hanging Wallpaper
Unbook top half of strip and place paper at the top of the wall. Allow excess paper to overlap ceiling and adjoining wall. Slide paper into position and align with plumb line. Using brush, sponge, or other smoothing tool, gently press strip against the wall. Be sure not to stretch wallpaper. Work all air bubbles from paper by smoothing from center out. If air bubbles still exist, gently pull back sheet and re-smooth. Unbook bottom half and smooth into place.
Trim paper at top and bottom with a knife using a spackling tool as a straight edge. Set seams by hand and use a steam roller only if necessary. Use soap and warm water to remove excess adhesive from wall after hanging. At switches and receptacles that have been papered over, make sure power is turned off and make an X cut from corner to corner. Then cut along edges of the plate making sure not to cut too much. Wallcovering Care and Maintenance
All wallcoverings in this collection are washable using a mild soap that does not contain detergent. Rinse with clean water. Stains caused by greas and oil may not necessarily be removed.
